Project for the reopening of a theater in Morelia.

Image
Recently, I was invited to advise on the reopening of a theater in my locality. The project involves the reopening of a beautifully restored venue. I was invited by someone who tasked me with managing the search for multimedia companies to handle the audiovisual content. I did my research, consulted with people in the arts community in my city, and we decided to go with a company from Guadalajara for the initial events at the venue. They were very good :) I resigned from the position specifically because I realized that the madam who is in charge  to manage the project has a minimal understanding of show technology, digital arts, and oral hygiene... It wouldn't matter as much if they didn't express opinions or request things outside the logic of such projects. Additionally, this person maintains a "relationship" with one of the external contractors who signs as an engineer, which don't hold that academic degree. This raised doubts about the administration, and I

Tales from Villers-la-Ville

Image
Villers-La-Ville  Villers-la-Ville is an abbey constructed in 1146 in the Walloon region of Belgium. Abandoned in 1796, this former abbey of Cistercian monks has served as the backdrop for various events and has become a tourist attraction in the Belgian kingdom since then. (Yes, it is the setting you observed in the Sense8 series.) Notably, Victor Hugo visited it three times! I had the opportunity to explore this abbey in 2002 and returned later to make some sketches of the tombstones that were present. As a devoted enthusiast of the Romanesque and Gothic periods, I couldn't pass up the chance to observe them on the ground. (Certainly, I did not take anything, and the sketches I made did not impact the surface of the tombstones.) I created the following series with the concept of envisioning a meeting between two beings who traverse a segment of a journey within a series of routes, only to eventually diverge onto different and unique paths. The photographs presented here were cap

Joyeux anniversaire Rosita !!!!!

Image
Joyeux ! Joyeux anniversaire !!!!

SOLD In these times of quarantine, very human needs shine: eating, talking with family and friends, and also experiencing art. Suddenly, we find that music becomes essential to carry us through the day. We observe actors reciting the words of screenwriters in our favorite series, our preferred writers sharing a space in our recliner with the view of some art hanging on the wall, and then we realize our place in the universe. In another part of the world, a collector was scrolling through her social networks and stumbled upon the online gallery where she sells art. A painting of mine caught her attention, and this is typically the circuit through which I sell my work. However, there was a detail this time. You should know that the way I paint involves layers, layers that cover the previous ones but not entirely. They allow the first ones to be visible, and just as in life itself, it is the mixture of

Simbiosis - Project of the Established Art Creators Incentive. 2014

Image
In the year 2014, I was awarded the Established Creators Incentive, a grant that is part of FONCA/ICG.   "For a year, I was in the process of creating an installation called:" SIMBIOSIS. "It was one of the last installations I carried out until this year 2020. The production of an exhibition that, as in this case, had elements of Augmented Reality, Temperature Sensors, Projections, and computing elements is quite complex. This is because various actors are required to monitor its development during the time of such an exhibition, and not many times there is the appropriate technical staff. The final presentation of this project went smoothly, and I thank all the staff of the Instituto de Cultura de Guanajuato as well as the Museo Olga Costa for all the invaluable support they offered me to achieve this exhibition." "Objective: To present a multimedia installation that inspires reflection on our impact and influence as a species and as a

Alfredo Zalce 1996 by René Serrano Morelia, Michoacán México.  Alfredo Zalce was a renowned artist in the region of Michoacán, Mexico, and a resident of Morelia. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting him around 1994. During that period, I was finishing my high school studies in Economics/Administration and had temporarily set aside the idea of pursuing Arts as a career. I was in the process of taking exams to enter the university for a degree in Business Administration at the Technological Institute of Morelia. At the same time, I couldn't shake off the need to draw, to make music, but I needed guidance in the arts, and that's when he opened his doors to me. Master Alfredo Zalce, originally from Pátzcuaro, always welcomed me without charging a single cent. It seemed like he enjoyed my company, but I realized that he genuinely enjoyed the company of all the young people interested in art. "You are my guests," he would always say. Mineral de Pozos, Guanajuato.

Mineral de Pozos Story 2003 -2017  I have always maintained that our origin is not confined to any particular country; the label on our passport merely signifies the place where chance brought us into the world. Regarding my own roots, I cannot pinpoint them precisely, but what I do know is that certain locations in Guanajuato, such as Mineral de Pozos, deeply resonate with me. I began capturing moments in this locale back in 2003 and have consistently returned whenever possible. The vibrant atmosphere, unusual for a ghost town, and my fascination with the textures and imprints of time keep drawing me back. Hacienda 5 señores 2015  Photo by René Serrano R. From 1880 to 1888, Mineral de Pozos experienced a period of prominence and prosperity. Numerous companies, including Cinco Señores, emerged during this time to extensively exploit the mines, particularly those like La Joya, Nayalito, and Justicia, reaping substantial profits.
