I am sharing with you the Third painting of my recent project "The Endless River," for the
PECDA "Established Artists Grant of Michoacán"
On this occasion, I focused on the endemic fish species of the lake.
On this occasion, I focused on the endemic fish species of the lake.
My research has brought forth the following:
- Pes blanco (Chirostoma estor estor)
- The acúmara (Algansea lacustris)
- The chehua (Alloophorus robustus)
- The tiro (Goodea luitpolldii)
- The achoque (Ambystoma dumerilii). Addressed in the previous delivery.
Lake Pátzcuaro is the only place in the world where the pes blanco species (Chirostoma estor estor) is found, representing a species of commercial, social, and cultural importance. Currently, the fishing of this species has been seriously affected by overexploitation and the capture of small-sized individuals, in addition to the destruction of the reproduction and oviposition sites, which are mostly located in the littoral zones.
The water body as a whole provides habitat for this species, where the different stages of its biological cycle take place, but it is especially in the wetland area where the highest reproduction and oviposition of the species is recorded.
Finally, I have decided to "converse" with the species: The chehua (Alloophorus robustus).
I am drawn to its colors and its somewhat "rounder" shape compared to the others.
I was thinking of creating a kind of aquatic landscape that evokes a sensation of reproduction or an explosion of life itself.
On this occasion, I opted to incorporate a more balanced style, leaning more towards the organic and less geometric.
Process:
Parallel to this delivery, I must add that I have officially received the green light for an exhibition at the Centro Cultural Clavijero from February 6th to July 19th, 2026.
Alongside the exhibition of this project, a recent selection of my pictorial work will be integrated.
I must add to this project log that on Saturday, November 29th, my piece "Los Guerreros" was delivered for safekeeping to the Centro Cultural Antiguo Colegio Jesuita in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. This is part of the retribution for the PECDA system and the PICS of the Mexican Ministry of Culture.
